Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Beach
A helicopter flying near a popular coastal beach suddenly began spiraling wildly, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm trees as beachgoers observed.
Videos posted on the internet show the chopper commencing to spiral over the beach then descending towards the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palms and a staircase close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Details
Local firefighters reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” after the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were injured. Details on their injuries were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
