Female Victim Stabbed in Birmingham City Bus Stop Assault Succumbs to Injuries

The female victim stabbed repeatedly in the neck during a random assault at a bus stop in Birmingham has died, authorities verified.

The deceased woman, who was 34, came under attack on Smallbrook Queensway street, right beside Bullring shopping complex, just prior to 21:00 GMT on Friday, according to police statements.

The suspect, twenty-one, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday, charged over the attack.

Originally charged of attempted murder however after the victim's passing charges were upgraded to murder.

Police Response

Authorities stated police personnel will remain around the city centre on Monday to offer reassurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives.

Detectives are appealing any eyewitnesses who might have observed the accused, identified as a Black British national, reportedly dressed in grey athletic wear, dark headwear, athletic shoes and rucksack.

Attack Site Details

The stabbing happened near the Bullring shopping centre, opposite the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station.

Police said they classified it as a random violent act with investigators stating they were working to understand the motive behind.

Eyewitness Reports

Shalini Doal, employed in the vicinity, described paramedic and police activity when she finished her shift around 10 PM Friday night.

She described the scene as extremely disorderly, adding that some of her colleagues heard a commotion around 9 PM.

"A lot of co-workers use transit services, take the tram... our safety is at risk essentially, here in the city centre."

Ashley Birks, twenty-five, from Stoke-on-Trent, mentioned visiting to Birmingham quite frequently to see his girlfriend who lives in the city, expressing concern about what had happened.

"It makes me worried for my girlfriend," he stated.

"She lacks transportation and works at major concert locations... and to think a totally random act occurred, understandably, it's horrible."
