Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
