Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have discovered numerous engaging creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a hero that is truly a dung striving to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
The gameplay is simple: just use a jump control. In numerous challenges, battle mini-bosses and visit a market to acquire skins for your dung hero.
Time your actions precisely, as a wrong move requires restarting the level. Jump using floating orbs to hurl yourself upward, cross crumbling surfaces, and interact with triggers to open hidden paths. Gather currency to purchase challenging levels as the action ramps up.
Visually, the game boasts vibrant environments and an amazing background music. The simple art of moving geometric shapes could recall players of old favorites like Earthbound.
Although tough to think of similar titles where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment often included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. And of course, this theme appears a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on computers this November.
